Hoje, durante o nosso evento, uma fala apareceu — e, pra ser honesta, eu já sabia que em algum momento ela viria: “Mas você nem parece autista.” Essa frase, que parece elogio, carrega um peso invisível. E é justamente por isso que ela precisa ser desmistificada. Porque não é só sobre como o outro me vê — é sobre o que ele não consegue enxergar. “Como é que alguém pode ser autista… e parecer tão funcional?” Essa é uma pergunta que escuto com mais frequência do que deveria. E, por muito tempo, também foi uma pergunta que eu mesma fiz em silêncio. O autismo não me impediu de aprender. Mas me fez aprender cedo demais a observar, copiar, ensaiar, adaptar. Ser psicóloga me deu ainda mais ferramentas. Me ajudou a desenvolver estratégias comportamentais, a reforçar o que socialmente funciona, a modular respostas, a prever reações. Me deu, sem querer, uma caixa de ferramentas pro masking — e pra funcionalidade aparente. Mas a funcionalidade, às vezes, é só isso: aparente. Não é leve. Não é natural. É construída — comportamento por comportamento. Às vezes, ao custo de um cansaço que ninguém vê. Então, voltando à pergunta… Como alguém pode ser autista e parecer tão funcional? Porque precisou. Porque aprendeu. E porque, quase sempre, não teve outra opção. Por isso, é tão importante que a gente comece a romper com esse tipo de fala. Porque por trás do “você nem parece” existe uma cultura inteira ensinando pessoas autistas a se esconderem, a camuflarem, a se adaptarem até o limite. A funcionalidade não deveria ser medida pelo quanto alguém consegue se silenciar pra ser aceito. Ela deveria vir do suporte certo, do ambiente que respeita, das intervenções que acolhem, não que forçam. Quando o diagnóstico é compreendido, quando a terapia é feita da forma correta — principalmente se vier de forma precoce —, a sobrecarga diminui. A pessoa autista aprende a se regular melhor, mas o mundo ao redor também precisa aprender a ceder, a adaptar, a escutar. Porque enquanto a gente ensina quem está no espectro a se encaixar, pouco se fala sobre como os ambientes podem se tornar mais possíveis, mais acessíveis e mais humanos.
